Hohenfels Elementary School is located near Hohenfels, Germany. Â We are a section of the United States Army Garrison Bavaria nestled in the picturesque, rolling hills of northern Bavaria between two major cities: Regensburg and Nurnberg. HES provides services to students from Prekindergarten (PK) to grade 5. Â HES opened it's doors in 1954 to 31 students in grades kindergarten to eighth. Â Today we offer universal pre-kindergarten through fifth grade to just over 300 students.
The Hohenfels military community is part of a larger military training command, the Joint Multinational Training Command (JMTC), which encompasses the Grafenwoehr Training Area and includes the Joint Multinational Readiness Center (JMRC) at Hohenfels. The base covers 39,858 acres and is the second largest training area available to U.S. forces in Europe. It is a small installation with approximately 5,000 active military, family members, and civilians.
