Questions
Fourth grade is off to a fantastic start this year! The first quarter has focused on building a strong learning community, with students developing essential habits, routines, stamina, and focus to support a year full of growth and discovery. In ELA, students have been reading about the impact of government on our lives, learning about the three branches of government, and practicing letter writing. There's also a strong emphasis on improving sentence-level writing to strengthen communication skills. In math, students are working on place value and multi-digit, multi-operation addition and subtraction, while also increasing their problem-solving rigor. Social studies has taken students deep into the four areas of social sciences—geography, history, civics, and economics—with a special focus on map skills and an overview of the U.S. regions. In science, the spotlight is on life sciences and environments, as students explore food chains, ecosystems, habitats, and life cycles of mealworms. Health lessons have covered the auditory system and the fascinating world of germs—how they spread and how we can stay healthy. It’s been a great start to the year, and our fourth graders are rising to the challenge with enthusiasm and curiosity!
